The CEO of Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United owner Arthur Blank's businesses says there are no concerns about the "operability" of the roof. Steve Cannon said the delay is a "timeline" issue with ongoing steelwork.

The new opening date of the stadium is now the Atlanta Falcons' August 26 preseason game against Arizona.

Atlanta United will also play at the Mercedes-Benz stadium with the Atlanta Falcons. It plans to install mechanical drapes on the the top half of the stadium -- so the capacity for soccer games will be about 30,000.

“It’s a wonderful day for our city and franchise and I know the people of Atlanta and all of Georgia will deliver a spectacular Super Bowl celebration in 2019,” Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank said in a statement.

Mercedes-Benz has naming rights to the new Atlanta Falcons football and Atlanta United soccer stadium in Atlanta.

On Tuesday night, Mercedes-Benz asked Sandy Springs City Council members to rename a street where its new headquarters will be.

It would like a section of Barfield Road between Abernathy Road NE and Mount Vernon Highway NE to be renamed to Mercedes-Benz Drive.

Donna Boland with Mercedes-Benz said it's part of the company's tradition of more than 40 years.

Its former headquarters is on Mercedes Drive in Montvale, New Jersey.

The Atlanta United Football Club is already breaking Major League Soccer records.

More than 26,000 fans paid deposits to secure season tickets. And it's for a team that doesn't start playing until March 2017.

Sean Dennison, senior director for corporate communications with Major League Soccer, said the team with the second-highest season ticket deposits was the Seattle Sounders FC with about 15,000 deposits in 2009.
