Eclipse enthusiasts began gathering Monday morning at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to watch the solar eclipse.

Amanda Corman, interpretive park ranger at Kennesaw Mountain said that the park is expecting more guests than they usually would see on a Monday morning, but park rangers were unsure about specifically how many to expect.

This is the day sky-watchers in Georgia and across the U.S. have waited for: the first total solar eclipse to travel across the U.S., coast to coast, in almost a century.

On Monday, a rare solar eclipse will darken skies across the country, and Georgia is lucky enough to be in the path of totality.  

State parks, universities and even schools are all getting in on the act, passing out glasses and planning events where people can gather to view the eclipse.

Atlanta will have its own soundtrack for the eclipse.

Composers from Georgia Tech created the soundtrack timing the music to be in sync with the eclipse.

It's kind of a dark, heavy piece with pitch changes to convey what's happening. For example, high pitches represent the moon and lower pitches the sun.
