SACS Sanctions Georgia Perimeter College

Dec 11, 2012

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has issued a warning to Georgia Perimeter College. The school endured a budget crisis over the summer after officials couldn’t account for $25 million worth in spending.  The budget crisis occurred a few months before SACS conducted a full review of the college. Georgia Perimeter spokesperson Barbara Obrentz says the school put new administrators, and financial policies, in place immediately.

“Those corrections took place as soon as we discovered that there was a budget shortfall," she says, "And so, it happens to coincide with SACS accreditation at the moment, but those notable strides were taking place even before our SACS visit.”

The warning will be in place for 12 months. Obrentz says Georgia Perimeter will remain fully accredited through that period.
