What do you do on a snow day when it doesn't snow? Kids are stuck at home, there's no white stuff on the ground to entertain them, and many parents are tearing their hair out.

Enter MODA, the Museum of Design Atlanta, with a just-in-time solution.

Executive Director Laura Flusche visited the "A Closer Look" studios to tell us about an invitation that MODA extended yesterday, inviting families to bring in their kids for free "until the snow arrives."

That snow never did arrive, but the kids sure did. They worked with Legos, electronic circuitry kits and even created "snowflakes that didn't fall."

MODA is the only museum of design in the Southeast. Visits to MODA picked up significantly when it moved to midtown Atlanta in 2011, and Flusche said the promotion was partly inspired by the fact that so many families could walk to and from MODA, even if it snowed.

With an exhibit called "Sustainable Shelter," and classes where kids can explore 3D printing and more, there's plenty to do at MODA today. On the second Sunday each month, entry fees are waived for families.

MODA stays open late on Thursdays until 8 p.m., and Flusche says families with cabin fever are more than welcome.
