Mike Burton has made his mark on jazz and pop. Usually on saxophone, he is an accomplished instrumentalist, touring with big names like Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott.
More recently, he has dedicated his time to his own music. This Friday, he celebrates the release of his new album with a concert with the Good Times Brass Band.
“A lot of it is reflective of what is going on in the country now from police brutality to dealing with things in politics,” Burton said in an interview with “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes. “It’s a very personal project for me.”
Mike Burton and the Good Times Brass Band perform at Venkman’s at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
