WABE’s beloved Lois Reitzes will take the Dad's Garage stage as part of the show “Story Spot” on Friday, May 5. Reitzes will tell a story and a group of improvisers will take it from there. “City Lights” producers Erin Wright, Myke Johns and Gabbie Watts will also join the stage and share stories about Reitzes. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about an Atlanta icon.
You can purchase tickets for this event with a pre-show meet and greet with Reitzes and the “City Light’s” producers for $50 each. All seating is general admission.
The distinctive voice of Lois Reitzes has been heard on WABE since 1979. She began her career hosting classical music for Atlanta NPR listeners. Since 2015, Reitzes has hosted the arts and culture show “City Lights,” which can be heard weekday mornings at 11 and Sunday evenings at 7 on WABE 90.1 FM.
“Story Spot” is a new series from Dad’s Garage Theatre Company and features local personalities who are each invited to share personal stories with the audience. A group of improvisers then creates a scene inspired by each story on the spot. The performers do not know what each story will be before the show, and the scenes they create are comedic, often absurd takes on the original inspiration. “Story Spot” features Atlanta-area writers and storytellers, along with special guests from around the country.
