There appears to be a settlement in the works between the Home Depot and the millions of consumers over the 2014 data breach.
Officials with the Atlanta-based company say both sides are close to an agreement.
“Based on what I’ve seen in the litigation, there was enough evidence to suggest that they were negligent," said WABE legal analyst Page Pate. "They didn’t have state of the art security, they weren’t listening to some of their compliance, and it looks like they may have dropped the ball. So for them to go ahead and acknowledge that and settle, I think that would be a good thing for the company.”
The data breach included the credit card information and email addresses of roughly 56 million customers.
