Fulton County had its share of voting problems during the last election cycle. Now, state officials have subpoenaed Fulton officials to appear at a hearing later this month.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp says his office has also  issued subpoenas for documents related to voter complaints in Fulton County.

“We need these documents and we need to talk to some of these folks and we were having a hard time getting that information and that’s why we issued the subpoenas,” Kemp says.

"I don't think what we're asking for is unreasonable."

The complaints include voter registration errors and missing absentee ballots. Kemp says Fulton officials have been dragging their feet.

“We have repeatedly asked for things that every other county in this state has been able to accomplish already," he says, "I don’t think what we’re asking for is unreasonable. My motive is to make sure that we continue to move forward; that’s what I promised people I would do, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections said in a statement that, so far, county officials have complied fully with investigators from the Secretary of State’s office and will continue to do so.
