If the idea of “swiping left or swiping right” is second nature to you by now, this show may be for you. Onstage now at Dad’s Garage, “U Up?” takes a look at relationships in the 21st century.
"Not every sketch is about online dating or Tinder," co-writer and co-star Alison Hastings tells "City Lights" host Lois Reitzes. "Almost all of them are about two people right in front of each other, trying to connect in some way."
She stresses that the premise of the show is about that attempt (and often failure) to make personal connections. The sketches are punctuated with movement and dance.
"I feel like a lot of fun comedy comes from something that starts physical," says co-writer and co-star Mark Kendall, "and then becomes verbal. So for me, it's fun to start with movement and let that lead me into the next piece."
"U Up?" is onstage now at Dad's Garage and runs through Feb. 17.
